Some kind of wonderful, yes he is! July 18, 2007

Around two this morning William comes bouncing in our bed, a nightly ritual since the toddler bed. I grab him and place him between Chris and I, he starts wiggling all around, which is common for him, I tell him to stop moving around and he says “I got shorts in my booty”, I tiredly say that’s called a wedgey. LOL William is such an amazing kid.

To catch everyone up and for those who may not know all the details of William’s history I will give a little insight.

When William was born he was immediately placed in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), with low body temperature and low blood sugar. It took three or four days to regulate William’s blood sugar to a normal level. We have not had hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) problems since that time. William was an 8 pounder so he was very good on weight, but he has slowly declined off the growth chart. These things are good indications that William is Growth Hormone Deficient. We have sought medical help from an endocrinologist (hormone doctor) since William was 8 weeks old. His Dr.s have encouraged growth hormones which is a shot once a day for possibly indefinitely. Chris and I have always hesitated on this because it seems intense for any child especially our own to go through over size. We have recently discover that growth hormones will not only promote his size but keep his body healthy and feeling better in general. We have decided to go ahead and start administering the growth hormone. We are going with the brand Norditropin. We received the starter kit today. I went through the kit with William which had needles and alcohol swabs, I let him clean his skin with the alcohol, and he also received a back pack which he loved. It will be a bit over whelming for him and Chris and I, but we are strong family. I am excited for William, what boy wants to be tiny and petite? William wants to be tall and strong, a monster, super hero, or something large.

Pray for William and for us. We will keep updates of his progress. We are going to find or make a growth chart to mark on the wall to keep track of how tall he gets.

A love for Thai July 5, 2007

We have taken a liken to Thai food especially the kids, Chicken Satay (Tender strips of chicken breast marinated with spices, served with mildly spicy peanut sauce) and Spring Rolls (light, crispy-fried spring roll stuffed with veggies) are their favorite. Chris and I like the Curry dishes and Pad Thai. Here are a couple of pics of us at Tuk Tuk, a place just down the road from us.
