I need to change.

I am a bad friend.

Examples:

I talk about friends to other friends.

I say something or agree to something that I don’t necessarily like or agree with to make that friend happy.

I stick my nose into my friends situations when I shouldn’t.

I half listen if talking to a friend on the phone and watching TV.

I make promises and then break them.

I tell my friends I will pray for them and most of the time I forget to.

How did I turn out this way. I was reading Hebrews this evening and felt a very big conviction about how I treat those who are closest to me. I can not be trusted with God’s children if I continue down this road.

Friends, I apologize for my lack of propriety and ask that you forgive me and be patient with me as I allow the work of the Lord to change me.

I think you are punishing yourself a little too harshly. You do have some bad habits, but you have a good heart my dear friend.

Thanks for your forthrightness. While of course none of us are perfect, your desire to change will make you a better friend. And we all like you even if you aren’t perfect. :)

Cool, you use WordPress too! I have this one friend that uses this really weird site for her blog that requires you to be a member just to leave a comment. Can you believe that???

Also, Danielle says she has known you since around 12 years old. That’s 13 years my dear. I think that means you are a good friend.

What a lovely admission of being human; quite certainly most of your friends have also fallen short at one time or another. It is a very rare soul who has mastered this dynamic. If only we could all be so open and honest with our shortcomings. No doubt you are forgiven and will truly know this forgiveness as you so forgive others. Freely receive, freely give.
